PS3 Game List: A to B

Here is a retail PS3 games list, which includes all the Playstation 3 games which have been released, or are planned for release, on PS3 Blu-ray Disc. I have ordered them alphabetically, and divided them into a series of pages to make the list items more accessible. As time goes by I shall try and link each entry to it’s individual page on this site – I hope this will become a useful resource for those interested.

Currently, there are 558 PS3 games on this list – 160 are exclusive to PS3; 396 are multi-platform; 9 are console exclusive; 225 have trophy support; 231 have no trophy support; and 2 will eventuly have trophy support.

The PS3 40GB is possibly the best value of the PS3 consoles, and we highly recommend it, unless you need any of the extra features of the PS3 80GB system, such as limited PS2 compatibility, extra USB, card reader, Motostorm game etc. If it’s space you are looking for, then why not upgrade your PS3 40GB HD with a faster 120GB HD, which could cost as little as $50. Also, the Playstation 3 40GB model also has the 65nm Cell Processor, So for much less than the 80GB system, you could have a faster, quieter, cooler, and more energy efficient 120GB system.

The main benefits of the PS3 40GB Console:

The Playstation 3 40GB comes with increased Wireless and Bluetooth range and reliability, and new components which reduce energy by 32.5% of earlier models. The heat difference between this and other PS3 models is incredible. The PS3 40GB will run cool for hours.

The PS3 20GB Console, just like the XBox 360, supports full high definition. The XBox 360 supports the HD format of high definition DVDs for movies, while the PS3 has Blu-ray built in, which means that every game can have 50 GB worth of game information. This means enormous game maps, multiple character types, and much more. The XBox 360 only uses standard DVDs as its base game holder, which is 7 GB, which means it’s much smaller.

Considering that later models of the PS3 contain little or no PS2 compatibility, this model gains some extra appeal as time goes by. Just like the PS3 60GB, and PS3 80GB models, the PS3 20GB has full hardware backwards compatibility and will play the vast majority of PS2 games perfectly well.

The first thing you notice about the new PS3 Slim Console, is how much less packaging it requires. however, the content is still much the same as the previous generation Playstation 3.

1x Console. 1 x Control Pad (Built in rechargeable battery, charged via the USB cable, SixAxis Motion Sensor built in). 1 x USB cable. Audio/Video cable (HDMI or Component cable sold separately). Power Cable (Now a ‘kettle’ lead due to the lower power consumption). Manual/leaflets

There are five original PS3 Consoles, they are each named according to the size of their hard drives – the PS3 20GB, PS3 40gb, PS3 60GB, PS3 80GB (2007 and 2008 versions) and the PS3 160GB. They all look almost exactly alike except for the colour of the trim and the amount of USB ports. (In 2009 the PS3 Slim Console was released in two versions, the PS3 120GB Slim and the PS3 250GB Slim which are discussed in PS3 Slim.)

All PS3 Consoles support software emulation of the original PlayStation; but support for PlayStation 2 backwards compatibility has steadily reduced in later models.

100 Bullets: PS3 Game Review

100 Bullets Comic

100 Bullets Comic

100 Bullets, also known as ‘One-hundred Bullets’, is a PS3 action game which is based on comic publisher Vertigo’s 100 Bullets comic book, by the writer Brian Azzarello and the artist Eduardo Risso. 100 Bullets is partly a crime story and partly an espionage thriller. It tells the interrelated stories of people who are given the chance to take deadly revenge, with no strings attached, against those who have done them wrong.

100 Bullets PS3 Game

The game is an all-new title based on the franchise. A completely different 100 Bullets game was previously in the works at Acclaim, which has since gone bankrupt, but the publisher D3 has started anew with its own take on this grim tale. No official announcement of release platforms have been made. However not much else is known about the game, as it is still very early in development. According to IGN, it was slated to be released in 2009 – which now looks like it will be some time in 2010.

Mortal Kombat II: PS3 Game Review

Mortal Kombat 2

Mortal Kombat 2

Mortal Kombat II, the second game in Midway’s blood and gore filled fighting series, first hit arcades 1993 to the delight of gamers and the despair of anti-media violence groups. Numerous home versions have been released over the years but now, for only $5, I can download a pretty accurate version of the arcade classic onto my PS3, complete with online play.

Mortal Kombat II PS3 Game

A few minor glitches aside, the game looks and sounds just like it did in the arcade. The only real exception to the rule is the menus, which look and sound pretty bad. The graphics themselves, while state of the art back in 1993, haven’t aged as well as those from other 2D fighters from the same time period, although that’s just my personal opinion and I’m sure lots of other fans would disagree.

The Godfather: PS3 Game Review

The Godfather on PS3

The Godfather on PS3

The movie, The Godfather, has always been revered as one of the greatest movies of all times, so I found it a bit awkward to see it in game form but I suppose it still works well. The PS3 Godfather game offers a decent replica of the movie in the sense that you go on missions where you take over businesses as well as the same missions that you would see in the game. There is a great deal to keep you busy so you won’t get bored.

The Godfather PS3 Game

When you take over a business, you get to have a payout for that business each week and if you want more payoff money then there is a great number of businesses to shake down through out the town. You may run into a drug dealer or two that may be warding off business to one of your payoffs, so you may have to kill them to keep your payoff up there so you can see that they try to keep the game exciting for you.
